Israeli Air Force jets launched a new round of airstrikes against targets in Tehran and its suburbs early Tuesday, while Iranian state media simultaneously reported explosions near Ahvaz in Khuzestan province, home to some of Iran's largest oil fields.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the strikes in a statement, saying they targeted 'command and control nodes' and 'ballistic missile storage depots' around the capital.

Footage circulating on social media showed large fires visible from multiple points around Tehran, with thick smoke rising over the Parchin military complex south of the city.

The Khuzestan strikes, if confirmed, would represent a significant expansion of the campaign into Iran's energy heartland. Iranian officials did not immediately comment on that front.

Air-raid sirens sounded in several Gulf states overnight, and commercial airlines rerouted flights around Iranian airspace for the third consecutive day.

The Iranian military said its air-defense forces 'intercepted a number of hostile missiles' but did not specify how many.
